“Let’s waste time chasing cars around our hearts…”

I stole this survey off of myspace from my friend Shelly. We worked at Starbuck’s together and I remember telling her a VERY funny story about losing my sheets….I’m sure she still remembers…

Useless Survey:

1. The phone rings. Who do you want it to be?
My mom.

2. When shopping at the grocery store do you return your cart?
Not usually…unless I park close to the return thingy — or if someone is watching me. I’m one of those people.

3. In a social setting are you more of a talker or a listener?
Talker. Obviously, a talker.

4. Do you take compliments well?
Not really. I usually shrug them off and give the credit to someone else…

5. Are you an active person?
I go to law school. I study 12-16 hours a day. BUT, my group has decided that the slothfulness has to end and the gym beckons Monday after class…

6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness would you survive?
Absolutely not. I would die before I even got to the wilderness….my body would just shut down at the mere thought of being alone in the wilderness. Although, it would be a good diet strategy…

7. Do you like to ride horses?
I’ve never been within 100 feet of a horse…

8. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
Well, I went “camping” as a teenager. It was church camp. And, if I recall, I griped the entire time. It was a lifetime ago. I don’t regret it.

9. What was your favorite game as a kid?
Oh geez…um…hide and seek probably. We did play a lot of “red light/green light” after church though (don’t ask).

10. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew he/she was married, would you get involved with him/her?
Are we talking Brad Pitt here? Or Dwight from accounting? This might change my answer…

11. Are you judgmental?
Unapologetically so…but only in situations where the individual should know better. I’m never…ya know…mean for the sake of being mean…

12. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
Sure. As long as they understand that I’m correct and they are 100% wrong.

13. Do you like to pursue or be pursued?
I’m not the pursuer…I’ve got boobs…

14. Use three words to describe yourself.
Funny, smart & pessimistic…(Note: I asked my fiance what three words he would use to describe me and, without skipping a beat, he rattled off: “Beautiful, crabby and determined.” He is 66% correct…).

15. If you had to choose, would you rather be deaf or blind?
Deaf

16. If you were a tool, what would you be?
A stapler. What? They’re useful…they keep everything together.

17. Do you know how to shoot a gun?
No. Not even a squirt gun really.

18. If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?
Cosmo the dog and random pictures…

19. How often do you read books?
Every day. For up to 16 hours at a time…

20. Do you think more about the past, present or future?
I think about the past…and then the future…and usually let my mind rest in the present. Sanity has its perks.

21. What is your favorite children’s book?
Oh the Places You Will Go by Dr. Suess. “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes…you’re on your own and you know what you know…and you are the guy who’ll decide where to go….” It’s cheaper than therapy.

22. What are you listening to?
The USC game in the background…obviously, Brando is watching it.

23. How tall are you?
5′6-ish

24. Where is your ideal house located?
So close to the ocean that I can reach out and touch it.

25. Boxers, briefs, thongs, or grannies?
*Ahem* I am a betrothed woman…this is not anyone’s business! (Note: I think most of us know the answer to this…although I did hear a funny story recently re: a windy new year’s eve and granny panties…)

“She Came In Through The Bathroom Window…”

Who knew that I could be summed up in a bathroom survey. This is at least 99% accurate…

What Your Bathroom Habits Say About You

You are very independent and self-centered. You don’t solve other people’s problems – and you don’t expect them to solve yours.

You spend a lot on clothes, and you tend to be a very savvy dresser. However, it’s hard for you to throw away trendy clothes when they go out of style.

You have the perfect blend of confidence and class. You’re proud of who you are – but you don’t broadcast it.

In relationships, you are practical and realistic. You have a romantic side, but you only let it out when it’s appropriate.

“Funny, to think how the time gets away….Funny, how you take me right back again…”

One of the good things about living in So Cal is the fact that, on a random Monday night in October, you can catch a concert in an old theatre in downtown LA. And, a great thing about having a fiance’ that is an attorney is that he can afford to take a poor law student to said random Monday night concert…with a little coercion. This particular Monday was by far one of the best. The Wiltern is a very small, very old and very retro venue. It was the perfect evening for an acoustic night with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.

The night was perfect, not too hot and not too cold, but definitely cooler than most evenings around here. Dave was chatty and funny and charming in that dorky way that only looks good on him. Even though I saw plenty of Dave shows this year, this one was different. There’s something about a dark theater and a singer standing alone on a stage, with no band, no drums and no artificial sound. There’s something about the acoustics in the building that make each note resonate differently. I’ve heard these songs no less than a million times, but they sounded different…they felt different. Each note takes you back to every moment past, breaks your heart, builds you up and reminds you of your future. Maybe it was the history of the building coming through the music….maybe it was my history overwhelming me with nastalgia. Whatever it was, I liked it.

Dave played “Where are you going?”. I hadn’t heard him sing it by himself in years.

“Where are you going…I have no answers for you…but I do know one thing and that’s where you are is where I belong…I do know where you go, is where I wanna be…Where are you going…Let’s go…”

I forgot how great that song was…I guess I’ve forgotten a lot of things. But I’m not the only one. People forget too easily…and they let things go when they should be holding onto them…and they sweep things under the rug to quickly. It really is a shame. Why do they fight it?

I guess Dave brings out the nastalgia in me…or maybe it’s this time of year. Having family and friends around for the upcoming holidays and all…but I think it was mostly Dave.

It’s November. Bundle up….it’s getting colder these days. And I’m guessing in Bako that it’s the rainy season. Oh…I miss home.
